The Arc de Triomphe (English: Arch of Triumph), known fully as the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, is a triumphal arch built to commemorate the armies of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars.

Description[]

The Arc de Triomphe is a monumental arch, situated on the Place de l'Étoile at the end of the Champs-Élysées in Zone 2. It stands at 50m in height, a short distance away from the Grand Palais and Petit Palais further down the Champs-Élysées. It faces the Place de la Concorde and Musée du Louvre at the opposing end of the Champs.

A viewpoint is present on the roof terrace of the Arc, which can be accessed by climbing up one of the two ladders located in the smaller 'inner' arches of the monument. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (French: La tombe du soldat inconnu) is not present underneath the Arc in-game; instead a roadway runs under the main arch, allowing players to drive under it.

Prior to the completion of the mission Fahrenheit Four Fifty for Margot, the Arc is surrounded by a high barbed-wire fence, similar to those lining the River Seine. Gaps in the fence to the East and West faces of the Arc allow the player access to the monument and the Place de l'Étoile.

In-game events[]

The Arc de Triomphe features most prominently in the mission Fahrenheit Four Fifty. It is the site of a mass book-burning by a Nazi General who has taken refuge inside an armoured car. In order to put an end to the Nazi war on perceived 'decadent culture', Sean must successfully assassinate the General and put an end to the book burning.

Later on, during From the Ashes, the Arc forms a stage of the Europa Grand Prix, with several grandstands with spectators present to watch the race.
